About
Since 2016, under the direction of Bibiana Jiménez, XXTanzTheater has been developing contemporary dance theatre productions that merge poetic visual worlds with physical intensity and political relevance. The company works in an interdisciplinary and experimental manner, guided by a clearly feminist approach and supported by an international network across Europe and Latin America.
Its artistic language brings together dance, theatre, music, video art, and visual arts into a powerful form of political physical theatre. In doing so, it creates a distinctive contemporary perspective that renders visible female and queer spaces of experience.
At the core of its work are themes such as migration, colonialism, digital transformation, cultures of memory, and histories of female resistance. The productions have received multiple awards and have been presented internationally.
Among its defining works are XX-FORTUNA, I AM FARKHUNDA, MARIANA PINEDA, and LA POLA, which were nominated for the Cologne Dance Theatre Prize (2016, 2017, 2023, 2025). The productions DAS EXPERIMENT and MISS GYNÉ (2020/21) received the award.

Bibiana Jiménez
Bibiana Jiménez is a German-Colombian choreographer. She studied psychology in Barranquilla and dance in Bogotá. She performed as a soloist with the Choreographic Theatre of Johann Kresnik in Bogotá, at the Volksbühne Berlin, at the Salzburg Festival, at Schauspiel Hannover, and at the Bonn Opera; she has also worked with Reinhild Hoffmann in Austria and Germany, and with Susanne Linke in Bonn.
In 2009, she initiated the integrative dance theatre project at IZF Bonn, which she directed for ten years. In addition, she has created choreographies for municipal theatres as well as for the independent scene. Her works have been performed, among other places, in Colombia, Spain, Germany, the Netherlands, and Italy. In collaboration with Wehr51, she choreographed and performed ROCKABY in 2015, which was nominated for the Cologne Dance Theatre Prize, and FRACTURA in 2021, which received the Kunstsalon Theatre Prize.
In 2015, she founded XXTanzTheater in Cologne. With the company, she creates socio-political dance theatre works and site-specific performances that focus on women and critically engage with contemporary issues of social relevance.
Management
Asta Nechajute
Asta Nechajutė studied acting in Vilnius (Lithuania) and Cologne, as well as cultural management in Hamburg. She works in Cologne as a freelance producer, production manager, and actress.
As an actress, she regularly performs with WEHR51, nö theater, and the International Laboratory Ensemble. Most recently, she appeared in 35 Tonnen (nö theater, nominated for the Cologne Theatre Prize 2025) and Liquid (WEHR51, Kurt Hackenberg Prize 2024).
In addition, she has served as production manager for several productions by nö theater. In 2025, she was also involved with the Urbäng! Festival of the Freihandelszone. Since 2023, she has been responsible for the management of XXTanzTheater.
